This course covers four chapters:

Chapter 1: Introduction to the Problem

  • Chapter 1 describes the problem of inmate suicide.

Chapter 2: Identifying High Risk Inmate and Areas

  • Chapter 2 discusses at risk inmates and especially risky areas in correctional facilities.

Chapter 3: Warning Signs

  • Chapter 3 discusses common suicide risk factors and warning signs.

Chapter 4: Best Practices for Correctional Suicide Prevention

  • Chapter 4 discusses how a culture of prevention, focused supervision, and committed leadership can sustain an effective inmate suicide prevention program.

A certificate is automatically issued upon completion. This course takes approximately 1 to 2 hours to complete.
